Kia ora Parents,
Welcome to Hillview Christian School for 2018.
We hope and trust that you had a refreshing and re-energising time with your family during the Christmas holidays. The weather has been very hot lately and it appears the mercury may rise even further next week. Our family had a special Christmas with extended family followed by another trek south to enjoy the ambience and beauty of Central Otago. We enjoyed our family time and managed to do a variety of activities.
A number of you are new families and we do wish to extend a special warm welcome to you. Joining a new school can be daunting as well as exciting so we hope your transition into our school community is smooth and friendly!
With the introduction of a new government, we have been informed that we are no longer mandated to formally report on the National Standards from Dec 2017. This will have little effect on our families as we will continue to report against the school curriculum so that you will know where your child should be achieveing and where they are actually performing. If you have any questions regarding this, please do not hesitate to contact Mr Dowall (Associate Principal – email@example.com) or myself (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Please check through our handbook as it contains a number of helpful guidelines and principles. Uniform expectations are clearly explained so that parents and pupils know what is appropriate so please be familiar with this so your child can arrive at school with confidence. The uniform shop is open by appointment. Bookings can be made at www.schoolinterviews.co.nz , enter the event code 5949e.
Last year Year 4-5 students and those interested from Years 6-7 attended a blow test to try a range of band instruments. This is an amazing programme which facilitates excellent musicianship and progress. Email Philippa or Maree with any questions: email@example.com; firstname.lastname@example.org
Year 7-10 Vocal Lessons and A capella Group with Annelise Veronese (vocal coach)
Anneliese Veronese has spaces available for private vocal students. Please email Philippa for contact details (email@example.com). Auditions are being held on Friday lunchtime 9th February for students who would like to try out for the school’s a capella group. Students are to meet at the bowling club at 12:30pm on this day.
I wish you all a wonderful start to the year and look forward to welcoming the children on the first day.
Many blessings and ng? mihi nui,
Steve Frost (Tumuaki)
