Home and School Association » Talents Project Frequently Asked Questions
The Talents Project is the H.S.A. fundraiser for the new school gymnasium. The idea is to "give" $100 to every family, staff member and trustee involved in our school community. This provides each person the opportunity to increase their $100 as much as they can before August 2011. The goal is to raise $300,000 as a school community. Please find answers to commonly asked questions below. If you have a question that is not answered here please email us at hillviewfundraising@gmail.com.
Each family is asked to sign a simple contract to receive their money. H.S.A members will be present after school for the next few days on both the junior side and senior side to enable people to collect their money.
If you are genuinely keen and think you are able to raise more money through being loaned a larger amount, you are able to approach the H.S.A. to discuss this. However we also encourage you to pool your money with other families to undertake big projects. You are also able to advertise for people to pool money with you on the Help Wanted page.
The longer you have the money the more opportunity you have to make it grow. However you are welcome to hand in money whenever you like. Details of how to deposit the money will be provided soon.
Please have a look at the Fundraising Ideas page where there are many ideas listed. Also you could consider pooling your money with other people. Visit the Help Wanted page to see a list of people wanting help or funds for their projects.
We encourage you to think of ideas that can be done outside the school as we don’t want families at school to become overburdened with too many fundraising projects being done at school.
We also remind you that any fundraising activity you undertake must be in line with the values of the school.
Other than these two points you are welcome to use the money any way you like.
While we would encourage everyone to be involved in this exciting venture to build the school gym, you can choose to not participate.
If you wish to return the profits you have been making you can do this at any time by picking up a slip from the school office detailing our talents bank account number or dropping your money into the school office. In order for us to supply you with a tax receipt at the end of the financial year, each family needs to be allocated with a number so we can track the banking. This is solely for the purpose of us writing out a tax receipt so that you can claim back one third of all amounts donated to the school gym fund. To get your number allocated please contact the school office.
A letter has been written from the school endorsing the gym fundraising project. This can be attached to applications to hold sausage sizzles, or if requesting donations for prizes at an event. You can collect a copy of this from the school office, or download it here.
